Bedfordview High School Programmes

Our High School Curriculum

At our high school in Bedfordview our curriculum is developed within the guidelines of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). It is designed to offer exposure to a wide variety of subjects, developing the full range of skills vital for a holistic education.

We live in a dynamic society and flexibility is applied to the academic programme in order to accommodate the demands and challenges of an ever-changing world. We extend and enrich our curriculum to ensure we can best meet the needs of our students. Lateral thought, comprehension and innovative application of skills and concepts are key parts of four pillars of the school (Academics, Sports, Creative Arts and Social Responsibility), of our approach to education.

In order to provide an all-round and well-balanced education for our students, our high school offers an extensive range of subjects beyond the mandatory College curriculum. Through sound teaching methods, students are exposed to a wide variety of subjects, including information technology and research skills, and we make sure to foster an awareness of global environmental issues.

Students applying to our College are required to complete a Cognitive Abilities Test. This provides a comprehensive profile of a student's strengths and potential to assist with their best educational placement.

These assessments are to gauge the abilities of each prospective student, so that we can ensure we provide the best support as they enroll at our high school. The insight that these assessments provide for our teachers is extremely valuable and enables them to offer a much more individualised programme of study.

Extracurricular Activities for College Students

The Reddam House motto is “We Shall Give Back” and as members of the South African community, we believe that our school has a responsibility to work towards a society where all citizens are treated equally. By working in our community, we aim to improve the lives of those less fortunate than us.

Reddam House believes that the purpose of Community Service and Social Leadership is to encourage students to develop an understanding of civic responsibility and the role they can play in supporting and strengthening their communities.

Community involvement increases student awareness of the needs of others and helps young learners to see how they can make a positive difference.
